How To Choose A Golf Cart Windshield

Choosing a golf cart windshield can be tricky. It would seem simple, it is a windshield… how hard can it be? Well there are a number of available windshields on the market today. Take a moment to consider your specific needs and you will be able to make the best choice for you.
A great portable option is the roll up windshield. Set up and break down are quite easy and because they are made from clear vinyl, you can roll it up and keep it in your golf bag. This can be a great golf cart accessory to add to your collection for those times when you are renting a cart.
A slightly more permanent option than the roll up is the split or hinged windshield. You might also find them categorized as a fold down windshield. These can be folded down, hence the name fold down windshield, to let air flow or left up for more protection.
A one piece windshield is typical made from a clear or tinted acrylic or a polycarbonate. However, sometimes you can find one made from both materials. The benefit of a one piece is there is no chance of a broken hinge, a possibility with a fold down windshield. Winged windshields extend past the edges by up to a quarter of an inch. This is to ensure that both wind and rain are deflected for driver and the passenger. These are available in a fold down or a one piece.
Most golf cart windshields are made from one of two materials, acrylic or polycarbonate. However, there are also some on the market that are made from both. Something to consider when deciding which type of windshield to buy is where you will be driving you cart. Acrylic is more likely to break or crack when hit with a hard object, i.e. a golf ball. However, they are less likely to scratch.
In addition, if you are choosing a fold down windshield, consider one with UV protected hinges. Constant use and sun exposure will weaken the hinges with time and cause them to break. A polycarbonate windshield is less likely to break but much more prone to scratches. Also, check the thickness. Windshields are typically 3/16” up to ¼” thick. The thicker your windshield, they less likely it is to break.
When choosing golf cart accessories like a golf cart windshield be sure to note the model and year of your cart. Many golf cart parts are specific to the type of golf cart.
Great Golf Cart Accessories Await

When it comes to golf carts these days it seems that you basically can have a riding BMW with you as you go from hole to hole on the golf course or from house to house in your neighborhood. It is quite impressive what is available for golf cart accessories these days and getting yours all decked out has never been easier. No matter if you ride a gas powered car or one of those fancy electric battery powered whizzes, you can make your way to and fro in style.
So what accessories are exactly available? Well you will have the standard sort of things that will make a round of golf or quick trip down the block a bit more comfortable and enjoyable such as covers, heaters, and GPS systems. Again, these I would call functional sort of accessories that are meant to enhance the way you use the golf cart. A heater will make the season longer such that when it gets cold the heater can keep you warm. Go out and hit your golf shot and come back and warm up next to your golf cart heater. The golf cart cover is great for those times when it rains to keep you drier and for the middle of the day for when it is crazy hot and you just want to get away from the suns powerful rays. And of course that GPS can work for finding your way around on the roads and there are even systems to add that have many popular golf courses staked out to enhance your on course experience. Adding some great functionality is a way to ensure that you get the most use possible out of your golf cart. On top of that there are many add ons available that are meant to get you into a street legal golf cart and available to cruise down the street in full accordance with the law.
The next group of golf cart accessories I would consider more of breaking from the mold and having your golf cart become multi use as well as earning you some head turns and perhaps even sideways looks. There are now kits that will allow your golf cart to become more of an off road vehicle in the same vein as an ATV with a little less functionality. Use it for fishing and hunting and to go off the beaten path a little bit. Or you can pimp out your ride with some cool additions similar to car accessories such as spinners, black lights, and upgraded wheels. These add-ons are meant to set you apart from the crowd and get you noticed as well as give you a better feeling about your ride.
As can be seen, there are a multitude of golf cart accessories on the market today. One never needs to worry about not being able to make your cart more functional and more user friendly, not to mention more appealing to the eye and the envy of your neighbors and buddies.
